About the Role:
MI Skin Center is seeking another experienced Histotechnician or Histotechnologist to support our Mohs micrographic surgery team on a very part-time basis — typically 1–2 days per month, with the potential for increased hours in 2026 as our surgical volume expands.
This is an ideal position for someone who:
- Already works elsewhere and wants extra income.
- Wants to keep their histology skills active without a full-time commitment.
- Prefers a low-stress, predictable schedule.
- Has Mohs or frozen-section experience and wants a flexible side role.
Certification or formal schooling is NOT required if you have adequate hands-on experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform tissue processing, embedding, cutting, and staining (including frozen sections for Mohs).
- Ensure accurate, timely slide preparation for same-day review.
- Maintain Mohs lab equipment and follow quality control standards.
- Document specimen handling with accuracy and clarity.
- Work directly with the Mohs surgeon to support excellent patient outcomes.
We’re Looking For:
- Experience in a histology lab — Mohs experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent slide quality.
- Reliability and comfort working a short—but important—shift during Mohs surgery days.
(No degree or certification required if experience is sufficient.)
Why This Role Is Unique:
- Extremely Limited Hours: Perfect for supplemental income, retirees, or techs wanting flexibility.
- Competitive Pay: $25+ per hour depending on experience.
- Easy, Predictable Schedule: Usually only 1–2 days a month, planned in advance.
- Highly Supportive Team: Work with a kind, organized Mohs team that values your expertise.
- Future Opportunity: Role may expand in 2026 as our Mohs volume increases.
How to Apply
If you’re an experienced histotech interested in a flexible, ultra-low-hours role, we’d love to hear from you.
